When I was first approached by the Host Committee and asked if I would like to serve as the Honorary Chair of the 2010 Canada-Wide Science Fair in Peterborough, I was reminded of the impact that science fairs had in developing and crystallizing my own interests in scientific exploration.
As a Grade 13 student, I participated in the City Science Fair in Toronto and then went on to represent my region at the Canada-Wide Science Fair. It was an experience that would ultimately define my life.
When I look back now as a medical doctor, neuroscientist, astronaut, and photographer, each vantage point leads back to those early days and those early brushes with scientific discovery. It has been an amazing scientific journey and one that has taken me to places that I could only have dreamed of as a young woman.
On behalf of the organizing committee, I welcome all visitors and look forward to creating a dynamic experience for all of the science fair registrants.
With great anticipation,
